Diamond Drilling Services
The installation process for many of our Structural Repair Systems requires a void to be formed in the structure to accommodate the Repair/Reinforcement System. With some buildings and structures being in a fragile condition and many of a historic nature, care and skill is required to ensure that drilling methods employed offer the lowest levels of disturbance.
Diamond Drilling utilises a steel core bit with special segments welded to the tip. We have access to over twenty different types of segment and can vary the matrix and profile of the segments to suit each application. Utilising Dry Drilling or Wet Drilling (where water lubricates the segments and controls dust) our specialist teams have a wealth of experience of drilling in a wide variety of substrates from new concrete to ancient monuments.

Diamond Core Drilling produces minimal vibration as it is a non percussive method of drilling. This allows us to remove cores from structures with the minimum of vibration and disturbance to the structure itself. Our Diamond Drilling teams use specially adapted rigs and are regularly coring holes from 20mm to 300mm in diameter and up to lengths in excess of 20 metres. The experience of the teams, coupled with Diamond core technology, enables these holes to be drilled accurately and with great speed.
When used to facilitate a Structural Repair Strategy, the anchor system selected can often be concealed completely within the body of the structure with minimal visual impact. In historic buildings and structures our anchor installations are virtually invisible when the work is complete.
Protectahome provide specialist Diamond Drilling as a stand alone service. Examples include drilling weep holes at Caerphilly Castle, Diamond coring of the Perseus and Andromeda fountain at Witley Court, and providing general Diamond drilling services to main contractors giving access for mechanical services on site.
