On 11 May 2013, a team from Protectahome will be taking part in a five mile walk across the Severn Bridge to raise money for St David’s Hospice Care. Of course this is not just any fundraising walk; all participants have to be dressed in onesies!
Following a tip off, environmental health officers from Portsmouth City Council found evidence of a mice infestation at the Dolphin pub in Portsmouth. Droppings were found in food and throughout the property.
A severe Dry Rot outbreak has been discovered at Thirlestane Castle in Scotland. Set in the Scottish Borders at Lauder, the castle originates back to the 13th century. It has extensive parklands and attracts thousands of visitors each year.
Mid Devon Council have proposed cutting back on sandbag provisions for residents in the event of flooding. Devon was subject to severe rain and gales in winter 2012. Damage to buildings and bridges was reported and twenty homes were evacuted after water breached the 200-year-old Grand Western Canal at Halberton.
Protectahome recently investigated a dry rot infestation at a former school in Cowbridge. The school had been turned into luxury apartments and, shortly after the renovation had been completed, one of the apartment owners contacted Protectahome to carry out an inspection.

Protectahome were appointed by a Local Authority to inspect a 40 year old semi detached dwelling in the suburbs of Cardiff. The tenants had noticed severe vertical cracking and minor horizontal cracking to the gable elevation wall.
For 15 years this family property was home to a damp unusable basement. The property was prone to flooding especially during extreme weather locations. The family was looking for new space however couldn’t afford to move home.
