Local Authority cutbacks drive pest control measures into commercial sector. Powys County Council has announced that it is scrapping its pest control services in bid to save up to £20m. Residents will now be unable to request treatments for mice, cockroach or rats and wasp removal services will end on 26th September.

Pest control services in Newport and Monmouthshire are no longer available through local councils, as of 1 April 2014. These services, which were previously free to residents, are removed at a time when pest control problems are rife.
A recent survey by comparison website, uSwitch, found that 90% of home owners are undertaking renovations and almost 60% carrying out extension works on their properties, including loft and basement conversions.
Timber treatment work was completed at The Pantheon at Stourhead recently as part of an urgent repair project being undertaken by the National Trust. This important structure, set in the grounds of Stourhead House, was designed by famous architect Henry Flitcroft.
