Project DescriptionNew build 5 Bed residential dwelling with integral garage and basement level in highly sought after Hampton area. Protectahome were approached to fulfil the role of Waterproofing Design Specialist for the necessary basement and deck waterproofing works.
The project would include the construction of a basement level with partially overlaying garage – both of which required waterproofing to ensure that the basement provided a Grade 3 (Habitable) Environment as per BS8102:2009.
Working for the property developer, Protectahome were able to liaise from early design stage through to undertaking the installation of the waterproofing system ensuring no split liability for the waterproofing and that the system dovetailed adequately with other construction elements.
8mm polyethylene Cavity Drain Membranes were installed to the internal surfaces of the external walls, the floor slab and along the dividing walls within the basement.
The cavity drain membrane was connected to a perimeter drainage channel, located at the wall floor junction, designed to carry any water ingress to the sump and pump chamber that was formed in the slab within the lightwell.
The sump chamber contained 2 pumps with twin discharge lines, high water level alarm and battery back-up system to safely disperse any captured free water that penetrated the structure.
To the garage deck above, a single component polyurethane liquid membrane (Type A Barrier Protection) was applied to the areas above and leading to the basement to prevent any water ingress penetrating the structure from above.
All works were completed on time and within budget, and a full Protectahome guarantee was issued upon completion.
