Background Material Fails!

Background Material Fails!

Protectahome were recently asked to provide an anchor solution for a structural engineer and main contractor cladding the external elevation of a stone built structure in Oxford.

Structural Repairs

The client wanted to provide a fixing in the existing structure that would be cable of being loaded but had had poor results with a number of proprietary general fixings and resin bonded fixings.

We installed a selection of Cintec M12 and M16 stud anchors with a 300mm embedment into a 40mm and 50mm diameter hole respectively. The Structural Engineer asked that we test loaded the anchors to destruction to prove the loading that could be achieved definitively. After a four day cure the anchors were pull tested to destruction using a hydraulic tester. The M12 Cintec Anchors achieved 40 Kilonewton (kN) before the background material failed and the M16 Cintec Anchors achieved 50kN. One of the M16 Cintec Anchors achieved 100kN and still held.
