A thriving bar near the Millennium Stadium in the city of Cardiff. The basement bar/function room has a 250 head capacity and forms an essential part of the business.

When it was found that the basement was flooding following heavy rainfall, the basement was rendered unusable and Loss Adjusters called for the help of Protectahome’s specialist skills.

Protectahome designed and installed a Type C drained protection waterproofing system. The system included the use of drainage channels below the floor which are connected to multiple sump chambers containing automatic dual pumps, with high water alarms in each sump chamber.

The walls were lined to full height using an 8mm stud Cavity Drain Membrane. The membrane was “curtain hung” using 11mm Waterseal plugs with Butyl rubber seals.

The floor was lined with a 20mm stud Cavity Drain Membrane prior to being screeded and finishes being applied.

An independent metal stud wall containing the services was erected in front of the waterproofing and finished with plasterboard and skim plaster.

The work was completed three days earlier than programmed much to the delight of the owner. The installation benefits from the provision of a Protectahome long term Guarantee
