We are often called in as trouble shooters to get to the bottom of problems that won’t seem to go away or that have become a source of embarrassment for organisations, threatening reputations, client relations or impacting on performance records. Building Preservation

We deal with many different problems relating to building preservation including the identification of the type of Wood Rot affecting a building or structure, track & trace of the attack and the production of a repair strategy.

We carry out on site inspections and assessments as well as off site analysis of samples to investigate problems with dampness affecting walls and floors in order to provide a diagnosis of what is causing the dampness issue e.g. Rising Damp, Penetrating Damp, Residual Damp, Condensation, ground water, Defective Works, Escape of Water, Bridging, Salt Damp, defective/missing Membranes, poor or defective detailing etc.

Once a diagnosis has been determined and in accordance with instructions received, we can produce a report and a specification of remedial works where appropriate. We also provide quotations for remedial specifications and repair strategies, with our contracting arm capable of carrying out the works. Specialist works completed by us usually benefit from a long term guarantee by the company.

Structural Repairs

Protectahome Structural Solutions provide investigation and analysis of problems and can carry out remedial repairs where appropriate. Our Surveyors are regularly requested to investigate Cavity Wall Tie problems, Dampness caused by bridged cavities and problems associated with the installation of Cavity Wall Insulation. We conduct investigations into the causes of cracks in buildings and create proposals for remedial measures where appropriate. Any work that is found to be required can be costed for and carried out by our own contracting department. Structural repairs completed by Protectahome may also benefit from the provision of a long term guarantee by the company.

Waterproofing

Our Waterproofing Surveyors are regularly called upon to investigate the cause of Dampness in structures below ground or that are partially earth retaining. In many cases problems are found to be attributable to a failed Waterproofing system that has been applied either during the construction phase or as a remedial measure.

We conduct on site inspections, desk top analysis and destructive testing where required. This work is carried out in order to establish the cause of dampness and/or free water ingress in Basements, Cellars and earth retaining structures. In accordance with instructions received we can produce a report and specification of remedial work, as well as providing a full contracting service. Waterproofing systems installed by Protectahome usually benefit from the provision of a long term guarantee, much valued for clients who have suffered from a failure of their original Waterproofing or free water ingress.
