Project Description

This unused Barrel Vaulted Basement is beneath a listed town house which is scheduled to be converted into Luxury Apartments. The Basement is subject to ground water ingress and in need of a Waterproofing Solution.
An unused Barrel Vaulted Basement beneath a listed town house scheduled for conversion into apartments. The basement is fully below ground and subject to ground water ingress. The developer wanted to include the basement in the conversion allowing the ground floor flat to be sold as a maisonette, adding significant value to the development. Protectahome were consulted and asked to provide a waterproofing solution that would be sympathetic to the structure and that would also be a reversible process.
Protectahome designed and installed a Type C drained protection waterproofing system. The walls and the barrel vaults were lined with an 8mm Meshed Cavity Drain Membrane, fixed ready to accept light weight plaster or direct bonded plaster board. Perimeter drainage channels were installed linking back to a central Sump Chamber containing automatic Sump Pumps. The floors were sealed using a 3mm Cavity Drain Membrane and Waterseal tapes over closed cell insulation. The work was carried out using Protectahome’s own direct labour and benefits from the provision of our long term Guarantee.
