At their peak the orphanages would house over 2,000 children and it is estimated that over 18,000 children passed through their doors in total.

As part of an £8m redevelopment project, Muller House was to be converted into 66 prestigious 2 and 3 bedroom apartments. During the conversion, timbers were identified that appeared to be suffering from wood boring beetle infestation and Protectahome were approached to provide a full investigation and guaranteed remedial solution.

The extent and method of the proposed work met with the approval of the supervising conservation officer and was carefully performed by Protectahome’s directly employed, highly experienced and skilled operatives.

The work involved the application of timber preservative to all retained floor timbers of the building. The delivery mechanism used included hand and spray application of low odour, water based insecticide, all phased to meet with the main contractors program of works.
