Lynmouths new pavilion reopened in October 2013 following a £1.2 million reconstruction project run by Exmoor National Park Authority. The original pavilion, built on the site of a coal yard in 1932, had been in a derelict state since 2001 and was structurally unsafe. Situated on the spectacular Lynmouth seafront with a backdrop of the Cliff Railway, the new building includes an education and visitor centre, first floor dining room and a theatre scheduled to show speciality commissioned aerial views of Exmoor. Built on a sloping site with three sides being earth retaining, a scheme of Waterproofing was required.
Protectahome were asked to design and install a Waterproofing System. Acting as Waterproofing Specialist in accordance with BS8102, our surveyor proposed a scheme of Drained Protection Waterproofing for installation. Work began on the pavilion in March. Our technicians installed almost 450m2 of Newton 508 Cavity Drain Membrane to retaining walls and floors. Newton Basedrain was installed around the wall floor junction, directing penetrating ground water to a safe point of discharge. Service ports incorporated into the Basedrain ensure the system is fully maintainable. The redeveloped Pavilion opened on 17 October, less than 12 months after construction work began, and is now open all year round.
