This newly constructed development, of 86 high grade apartments and 11 retail units / workshops was nearing completion but suffered from significant ground water ingress issues. The principle form of Underground Waterproofing installed during the construction phase had failed and a professionally designed remedial Waterproofing Solution was required if the units were to be successfully marketed. The development is in Birmingham’s Jewellery quarter which dates back to 1553. As the name suggests the area is renown for the design and manufacture of fine jewellery and silverware and has been since the 18th Century.
Protectahome were engaged to design and install a Waterproofing System that would meet the site requirements and the contract program. Protectahome selected and installed a Drained Protection (Type C) Waterproofing System incorporating products from Newton Membranes. This included approximately 500 linear metres of Basedrain Perimeter Drainage Channel, over 1000 square metres of Newton 508 and Newton 520 Cavity Drain Membranes on the walls and floors, 10 Sump Chambers, 20 automatic Sump Pumps and 10 High Water Alarms. On completion of the Waterproofing System our technicians installed a floating floor. The units were handed over ready for fit out, with all our work being completed on time and within budget. Protectahome’s long term Guarantee applies to the work and the design is covered by our Professional Indemnity Insurance. For complete peace of mind, we also provide Pump Maintenance & support.
