This domestic dwelling in Stourbridge had a brick vaulted cellar that was used mainly for storage. It was suffering from extensive damp, which resulted in an unpleasant odour making its way upstairs. The property owner wanted to utilise the damp basement for habitable accommodation, providing use as either a home office or games room.
Protectahome were invited to the property to create a design that would enable the cellar to be converted into a usable space. A proposal was created that included for all necessary preparation and building works and specialist waterproofing to be carried out by Protectahome’s operatives. Selecting products from Newton Membranes, a Type C Drained Protection waterproofing system was installed. This included the use of Newton Basedrain discharging to a newly formed sump chamber, Newton 508 Meshed membranes fitted to all walls and the barrel vaulted ceiling and Newton 508 membrane fitted to the floors. Once waterproofing was complete, our team went on to install the finishes including plastering the walls and ceiling, new skirting boards, up lighters and electrical circuits. All that was left for our customer to do was choose colours and decorate their new living space. “I am very happy with the standard of workmanship and the attention to detail from a very professional and considerate team.” Mrs P, Hagley Road
